Twitter

Wikipedia says..

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send "updates" (or "tweets"; text-based posts, up to 140 characters long) to the Twitter website, via short message service (e.g. on a cell phone), instant messaging, or a third-party application such as Twitterrific or Facebook.

But to me it is so much more. Started by Obvious.com. Biz Stone, Ev Williams, Jason Goldman, and many other talented entrepreneurs. I began using twitter a little over a year ago, I first heard about it on Biz's blog. What began with just three followers has now grown into 194, 160 direct messages and almost a thousand "tweets". At the time I thought it was a good way to get blog traffic, what I didn't realise was just how much it was going to change my life. To say that Twitter is addictive would be an understatement, but not the program itself, the people. My followers are awesome, and age from 16 to 75. From Snoop Dogg, to John Mc Caine, Detroit Red Wings, to Boston Red Sox, REM, LA County Fire Department, David Lettermen, Dooce, NPR, BBC, and a weasel named Oscar, they all use Twitter. In addition to these celebrities at last count there were already millions of users, some with more than one account. Like most social networking programs, friendships are formed, personalities click, relationships develop. And so it happened with several of my followers, two in Japan, one in France, several in Israel, USA, Canada, Spain. While I was in the coma, these wonderful people (like my blog readers) prayed, sent text messages and told their friends. I truly believe it was the power of prayer, so many prayers from so many people that have helped me to recover.
